Description

Miniature vase. Direct rim with rounded lip; tall flaring vessel wall, rounding towards splayed annular base. Two vertical lugs with punctate decoration attach on the upper body; these are worn and may originally have been horned in form. Band of decoration beneath rim, incorporating punctations and an incised linear and curvilinear design. Additional band of punctate decoration around top of base. Orange-red fabric with inclusions, some black and shimmering. Chips out of rim.

The Moyne collection arrived at MAA in 1938, after being displayed in London from 19 May to 1 June. Richard Feachem organised and partially accessioned the collection in 1946; the remainder was registered in 1981 and 1995. See archive (FA2/3/6, Doc.68, Doc.467 and Doc.470).
