Description

Vertical, elongated, zoomorphic adorno sherd representing the full body of an animal, possibly a frog. Rounded head with central indentation on top and broad face; one applied pellet on either side of the head, which has been deeply punctated representing eyes; incised line on the front of the face between the eyes, probably a mouth; curved up at the base with deeply punctated hole through the bottom; two deep punctations along the sides of the body with incised line between them; wide incised lines across the body creating ridges; two deep punctations on the incised line closest to the head and the base.

Original description for Z 35297 A-AM: 'Lugs of various forms, whole-body of human/lizard type with pronounced hole at bottom in most cases. a-g have pointed faces, two applied eye-holes each side. h-o have one or two eye holes either side, filleted decoration at sides of body. p-af are simpler versions of type. ag-ai are versions with more holes and protruberances. aj possibly represents different animal: has vertical mouth. ak is very stylized, small, with form represented only by punctate dots. al and am are small, very simply modelled versions'.
