Description

Incomplete, globular jar of unslipped, reddish-brown coloured fabric with thumbed decoration; most of neck and rim broken off and missing. Wide mouth with everted rim; short, constricted neck; globular body with slightly flattened base. Shoulder decorated with collar of six to seven thumbed impressions, radiating downward from base of neck.

The Moyne collection arrived at MAA in 1938, after being displayed in London from 19 May to 1 June. Richard Feachem organised and partially accessioned the collection in 1946; the remainder was registered in 1981 and 1995. See archive (FA2/3/6, Doc.68, Doc.467 and Doc.470).
