Description
Sherd incorporating a zoomorphic foot; likely from a tripod vessel, perhaps a tripod bowl. Perhaps Nicoya polychrome ware. Red fabric with cream slip on interior of body of vessel. The foot is hollow, with an ovaloid perforation on its back. It likely formerly contained a clay ball which formed a rattle. The foot may be modelled to represent a bird, perhaps a duck, with a long flat beak or bill. Details including eyes are painted in red and black on a cream slip. Much wear to surface.
