Description
Single-handed cup of micaceous buff fabric with polished exterior surface. Upright simple rim; one vertical strap handle from rim to body; rounded body; small obtuse-angled concave base. Two parallel bands of horizontal rouletting below the rim and the handle on the exterior; parallel grooves on the underside forming a hash like pattern. Reconstructed from sherds with parts still missing.

A general index card for Z 21734 - Z 21744 read: 'This collection of pottery of similar fabric from the W.K. Foster Bequest was stored together with Z 21733 and with which it appears to be a collection of Lausitz Bronze Age vessels, probably from South East Germany (Z 21733, Silesia, ?Muskau). All the forms of the finer pots can be equated with Lausitz types. It may be that some 'Swiss Lake Village' pots have been included in error.'

Description for Z 21738 A-C: 'Three single loop handled vessels in yellow-brown burnished fabric. A: Globular vase with vestiges of single handle between rim and posn. above shoulder. Horizontal ridges in low relief on shoulder, with pendant \ /// \ /// oblique relief pattern. Form similar to smaller Z 21734C. Everted rim. B: Carinated bowl with loop handle from shoulder to rim extending above the rim. C: Shallow handled cup with small omphalos base, loop handle extends above rim, two bands of closely spaced short oblique slash marks below rim and two short lengths below the handle. Below shoulder ridges in low relief run across the base parallel to the sides of the handle.'
