Description

Brooch made of copper alloy, incorporating a solid leech-shaped bow and an incomplete catch plate. Incised decoration on the bow of two bands with chevron infill. Small partially perforated hole latitudinally through the centre of the bow. No pin of spring present.

Description for 1927.720 A-F: 'Six novicella fibulae:
A: Large bronze boat-shaped brooch, slight lozenge shaped, with engraved chevron ornament and double lines. No catch, spring or pin.
B and C: Two smaller bronze boat-shaped brooches engraved with bands of chevrons. No catch, spring or pin. See reference.
D: Bronze boat-shaped brooch engraved with bands of chevrons, lines, dots and double circles. Traces of catch plate and spring but no pin.
E: Bronze boat-shaped brooch ornamented with chevrons and very deeply grooved lines. F: Small much broken bronze brooch, definitely lozenge-shaped engraved with chevrons and double lines'
