Description

Plaster seal impression of a seal matrix with a circular face. The central design depicts a shield of arms, a shield bendy with three lions rampant below and three lions rampant above, one and two, and three stars in the bendy. The shield is the shield of arms of William de Bohun, first Earl of Northampton. The shield is surrounded by arches. The central design is separated from the inscription by a plain groove. The inscription begins with a star and reads 'S' . WILLI . D[E . B]OhVN . [...] NORTH[...]' ('THE SEAL OF WILLIAM OF BOHUN EARL OF NORTHAMPTON'). The inscription is fragmentary.
