Description
Plaster seal impression of a seal matrix with a circular face. The central design depicts a shield of arms, a shield bendy with three lions rampant below and three lions rampant above, one and two. The shield is the Arms of Bohun, used by Humphrey de Bohun, fourth Earl of Hereford. The shield is surrounded by arches. The central design is separated from the inscription by a plain groove. The inscription begins with a cross pattée and reads 'S' H DE BOhVN COMITIS [HEREFORD ET CON]STABVLAR ANGLI' ('THE SEAL OF HUMPHREY DE BOHUN EARL OF HEREFORD AND CONSTABLE OF ENGLAND'). The inscription is fragmentary.
