Description
Square plaque of horn with an engraved circular mould showing a mirrored inscription and a half length portrait of the English poet John Milton (1608-1674), in half profile with long wavy hair, a jacket typical of the time and wrapped in a flowing cloak. The mould has three location holes placed in a triangle around the medallion, all clogged with an unknown substance. Back with parallel lines, probably traces of sawing.
