Description

Mortar of copper alloy. Everted rim; straight body with ridged band at top; two opposing strap handles with circular cross-sections; flared base that is centrally domed so that the vessel can roll in circular motion. The body is decorated with five crowned lions in upright 'rampant' profile, as in heraldic coats of arms; three on one side and two on the opposing side.
