Description
A medal commemorating Vernon's attack on Cartagena. Obverse with full-length figure of Admiral Vernon facing three-quarters left with right hand extended and left hand holding baton; two forts in the background and two ships on the right; inscription reads: 'ADMIRAL VERNON VEIWING THE TOWN OF CARTHAGANA 1740:1’. Reverse with two ships sailing right and two boats in the rear, forts labeled Carthagena in the background; inscription reads: ‘THE FORTS OF CARTHAGENA DESTROYD BY ADL VERNON 1741’. Worn on both sides.
