Ground and partially polished biconvex stone axe or wedge with slight shoulders. Curved sides flaring towards a slightly curved cutting edge; long tang with curved sides and faceted butt; both faces polished near cutting edge, ground on sides; grey stone with black core.

Catalogue card for 1957.178[.1-7]: 'The collector Brigadier Ross Howman writes; 'In 1927 I commanded the escort of the first expedition to enter that part of the Naga Hills which lies between the PATKAI and SANGPAN BUM mountains. Our object was the suppression of head-hunting, and, as corollary, human sacrifice. I collected these axe heads at that time.'
