Hurst and West (1957): 'Body sherd with a small strap handle and vertical thumbing along each side of it. This handle is purely decorative as the space between it and the body has been roughly filled in.'

Sherd of Thetford Ware. Likely a body sherd; Thick unglazed dark ware with a closed lug roughly filled in from one end with thumbing at each side and a thumbed imprint just below; Brown/grey fabric.
