Description
Sherd from a hand-made, wheel-finished jar, probably South-west Cambridgeshire Sandy ware. Everted, squared rim; short, constricted neck; rounded body; sagging base. Sooted most obviously on the rim edge. Reduced fabric, grey-brown surfaces mid grey core.

Paul Spoerry: 'Two jars in coarse brown sandy fabrics from the same site (CUMAA Z30848) and from Mill Lane (CUMAA Z30844) are probably South-west Cambridgeshire Sandy ware (SCAMSW), albeit perhaps in 13th-century forms with upright necks and rims.'

Reduced fabric, grey-brown surfaces mid grey core. Abundant medium quartz. Moderate medium calcareous inclusions and rare coarse calcareous inclusions.'
