Context (Acquisition Details)
The Fitzwilliam Museum's allocation of material from Max Mallowan's Chagar Bazar and Tell Brak excavations in the late 1930s was never sent on to Cambridge, likely because of the outbreak of World War II, and was found in storage at the British Museum in 1966. It was then sent to the Fitzwilliam, who made a selection of objects and transferred the remaining material to MAA in 1967 (see Doc.530).

Context (Amendments / updates)
Also found, in a box of material from India, fifteen beads and some fragments with one label reading "1967.169" and two more labels reading "J.N.P. Room 24" and one of those also reading "F 1007". The J.N.P. may indicate that these beads come from Jericho, but they cannot be matched to any of the Jericho records at present. Jericho has been added to the place field just in case these beads have gone astray from the Jericho collection, but they are stored with the rest of the Syrian material belonging to this idno.

Context (Found together / assemblage)
Multiple strings of beads (1967.169 A-V) originally shared one record. Several were labelled F.1006 (1967.169 A-F), and several more were labelled F.1007 (1967.169 G-J). Mallowan notes that the beads were 'arbitrarily re-strung', and it is possible that they were subsequently re-strung again after their acquisition by the museum. The remaining strings of beads may be part of the same excavation group or may not be connected.
