Description

Kite depicting an insect shape, made with paper. Three pieces of cane crossed over each other to form the frame. The kite is painted with green, red, yellow, black and blue pigment. At the base of the kite are two thin pieces of streamer, one yellow, pink and green, and one orange and green, which form the tail. A piece of thread attached to the middle piece of cane for suspension.

It is possible that this kite is part of the Skeat collection. In the annual report, the Skeat collection (Z 33508, Skeat I: 640-654) lists 15 kites from South East Asia, however there are only 10 record on the database. This kite needs to be compared to those in the Skeat collection to determine their provenance.
