Catalogue card for 1975.22 A-B reads: 'songoy: barbed spear for fish or animals A: large songoy made by Sara Kaba blacksmith. Used for catching large river fish. Its owner was very proud of the size of this spear. A man rarely goes outside his village unless armed with either a songoy, nunga (75.23) or mia (75.34) B: Nar-made songoy with handle.'

Description (Physical description)
Songoy. Spear with a wooden shaft and metal spearhead. The spearhead is pointed with a squared cross-section; small barbs on the edges. The socket is split. Shaft has a circular cross-section and has been cut down at the end.
