Description

Flat, circular seed tray of woven plant fibre, with a thickened rim of twisted black and natural coloured fibre. Formed of two layers. The upper layer has red warps, with wefts in a pattern comprising three bands of natural colour and two bands of black, each band with parallel oblique lines extending from the edges. The base layer has broad red warps and narrower, natural coloured wefts.

Catalogue card for 1948.2328 A-B: 'Two almost flat circular seed trays with reinforced black and white woven borders. Double wicker work. B: The inside very fine work red warps, outside coarser with broad red-stained warps. Inside with 2 broad black bands woven in, with fine zig-zag edges, made by inserting the natural coloured ones diagonally, and reducing their number locally.'
