Historic catalogue card description for 1948.2390 A-C reads: 'Three walking sticks used by the Mtutsi.
A: Long slender wooden stick tapering to a point at the top, the pattern on the wood being made by burning out diamond shapes which have become very faded. Terminated by a long iron spike, joined to the wood by a closed split socket. The middle of spike is squared. Length: 6 1/2 feet.
B: A similar stick of blackish wood, spike the same as A. 6'7 1/2".
C: A shorter stick of yellowish wood, incised with horizontal zig-zag and parallel lines. There are two round pikes, both with closed split sockets, one inserted within the other. The top of the stick is broken off.'
