Context (Amendments / updates)
This grass skirt was found attached to E 1908.203. The accession register and annual report both describe E 1908.203 as 'three pairs' of fringed belts/skirts. The catalogue card also says this, but a pencil note has been added which reads 'now four'. After removing a modern museum tie around the skirts, it was discovered that three skirts were attached together using original/contemporary methods, and a fourth separate skirt appears to have been tied on later within the museum. The three connected skirts have been processed under the number E 1908.203, and the fourth skirt has been separated and assigned a TEMP number.
