Context (Acquisition Details)
The design of the label attached to this object matches labels found on other objects from the Democratic Republic of Congo that were collected by John Lawson Forfeitt and donated to the museum in 1911 by Dr Jamieson Boyd Hurry. It is therefore believed that the object is a part this collection, and the source field has been updated accordingly.

Context (Amendments / updates)
The horn pipe was found without an accession number marked directly on the object. An old handwritten label, found with the object, reads: 'E 1911. Reg. 1911.507. Pipe. Congo. (Forfeitt Collection). Presented by Dr. Jamieson B. Hurry M.A. St. John's College.' The Blue Book register entry for 1911.507 reads: '1 Calabash Pipe.' Given that the object is not made from calabash gourd, the decision was taken to assign the object a temporary number, TEMP.01952, and a separate record.
