Description
A large strip of cloth woven from light brown plant fibre, likely reed or raffia, and blue cotton. It has narrow blue stripes along its length, and tassels of cotton and raffia at each end. Red thread has been woven in at each end of D. It is formed from two individual pieces (D and E) that are tied together.

Description for 1980.1076 A-F: 'A and B are stitched together along one edge - they are very faded on one side, presumably the side exposed to light; D-E are stitched together at each end - the external edge of E is faded; F is faded along one edge, with a worn area on one edge and several small holes. All except E have a red stripe along each end.'

Context (Amendments / updates)
Large metal safety pin with hook was previously attached to one end. This was likely related to historic storage or display, and was clearly not part of the original object. It was decided that the hook was a potential risk to both the object and anyone handling it, so the hook has been removed.
