Description

Coiled wooden toy snake. The body features scorched circular indents and grooves, creating triangular panels, some of which contain white pigment. The centre of the snake coil is suspended upon a tapered cylindrical wooden rod. There is evidence of historic damage; the snake head is missing.

Context (Found together / assemblage)
This object may be part of costume Z 13424.1. Wooden carvings with similar decoration were originally attached to the headdress using dowels. Snake imagery is consistent with this masking tradition.
