1953.564 A-H: '10 dipper juglets.
Descriptions from the Excavation Records (Vol.II, pps. 508-511)as follows:
A/Reg 96 "Red-brown ware with white grits. Rim slightly chipped."
B/Reg.109 "Drab ware with a few white grits, firing pinkish in patches. One dark patch of discolouration."
E/Reg.95 "Pinkish ware with grey and whte grits. Rather roughly made."
F/Reg.4 "Buff ware with a few white grits; self slip with traces of vertical burnishing."
H/Reg.17 "Pale buff ware, self-slip with slight traces of vertical burnishing. Surface partially destroyed."
Reg.110 "Drab ware with a few grits, firing pinkish in patches.
Reg.60 "Drab ware; brown slip with slight vertical and horizontal burnish."
The following not in the excavation publication:
C/Reg.111 may not be a dipper juglet as it has a flat base. The rim, neck and body above the shoulder has been glued back together but half the vessel, including the handle, is missing.
D/137 is the smallest of the group and has been reconstructed from sherds; areas of
body missing.
G/Reg.6 has been glued together from sherds; part of body missing. Partially burnished.'

According to the Accession Register there should be 8 dipper juglets with this number. However 10 have been found. Eight are marked with the correct Accession Number and two (excavation reg. nos WH.I.110 and WH.I.60) are not marked with an Accession Number.
