Description

One large chert nodule, six pieces of worked flint and chert, one large piece of cut flint suspended within mortar, five clay pipe stems, and 23 pottery sherds from multiple vessels including colour-coated and coarse ware; three rim sherds, 19 body sherds and one flat base sherd. 11 vessel sherds are glazed. One clay pipe stem has smoke staining.

Found, unaccessioned, in a box marked 'Cambridge Western Bypass M11 Field-Walking Finds', in a larger box marked 'Cambridge M11/Newmarket Bypass Fieldwalking Finds'. The Cambridge Western Bypass M11 material was assigned the TEMP number TEMP.01745 and the Newmarket Bypass material was assigned TEMP.01746, TEMP.01751 and TEMP.01752.

The Newmarket Bypass fieldwalking material was likely to have been collected in 1972 and 1973, according to the site codes; it is not currently known when it entered the museum.
