Description

Kifumbu, coconut strainer. Long cylindrical sieve made from woven palm leaves, closed at one end with a plaited loop, open at the other end. At the closed end are multiple coconut hairs entwined in the sieve from use. One band of decoration below the rim. Used by women to make coconut juice from shredded or grated coconut and preparation of most dishes. Made by men and women.
