Historic printed label found with 1921.292.1 reads: 'ABYSSINIA PAPYRUS RAFT. Bundles of Papyrus stems closely lashed together. The only approach to boat form is the rounded submerged part: the great depth of this raft-derivative is to maintain flotation after the stems have become soaked'.
