Description (Physical description)
A cylindrical wooden stick on which textiles are tied for dyeing. The light coloured wood has transfer patterns in red with undyed lighter bands, possibly areas of resist dye reflecting where the textile was tied.

Handwritten, rectangular adhered paper label notes in ink '467' and has been crossed out. Probably the collector's number.

Context (Acquisition Details)
Presumably donated by the collector John Layard in 1916 as part of a large collection of objects and glass plate negatives.
Possibly not accessioned with the other two examples E 1916.126.56 A-B as intended to be used as duplicates for exchange.
