The beadwork is coming undone in several places, red cloth has numerous holes, possible insect damage, and the leather deteriorating.

Description (Physical description)
Funnel-shaped basketry decorated with beads and cowries, possibly a lid or cover. Coiled basketry cylinder flaring into a cone at one end, both ends open, and covered with cloth and leather; decorated with red wool cloth, possibly Stroud cloth, lines of cowries with blue glass beads, cowries stitched in a grid design, and two wide bands of woven geometric beadwork in white, red, orange, green and black. Woven beadwork split open in places and with beads missing; holes in cloth.
