Accession No

1946.314 B

Description

A model of a head carved from tagua, or ivory nut, possibly a chessman. The figure has a carved face and dark hair, which has been achieved by incorporating the nut's darker outer layer into the design. The head is on a smooth base with footring, carved from a second nut; there is a hole in the base that allows it to slot together with the head using a dowel.
