Description
Iron knife with engraved blade, curved tip and horn handle. Long, narrow knife blade with straight cutting edge curved up toward the tip; engraved design on both sides of the blade, one side depicting a dog and flower with the inscription 'ANO', the other side depicting a bird and flower with the inscription 'D 1903'; truncated pointed-oval copper guard. The handle is made from horn in three sections, two cylindrical pieces and a butt piece shaped like a bird with hooked beak; butt held in place by a concave iron strip and nail.

Catalogue card for 1949.523 A-C: 'Three knives, with bone handles. A: with leather sheath. Said to be of pattern on Sayula knife in Jalisco. B: probably made in Ayutla. A-B: bought at Chilpancingo in 1904. C: folding type, like a pruning knife. All have engraved blades and C is probably from the same place as A and B'
