Context (Found together / assemblage)
Found bagged with a note reading '50.138'. The catalogue card for 1950.138 A records 'fused beads, pieces of iron and part of a square-headed brooch of late Ipswich type were found in it, but have not been traced.' It is likely that someone assumed that these pieces of iron may have been the iron referred to in the catalogue card, but this is highly unlikely given the type of material and also that it is not mentioned at all in Lethbridge's excavation report. The true provenance of this material is therefore currently unknown, and may not be Anglo Saxon at all.
