Dr Andrew Turner, curator for World Archaeology, examined this object in 2019 and provided the following details: 'Not the tripod foot of a vessel, but rather the end of the handle of a handheld censer'. The Description field has been updated to reflect this.

Description (Physical description)
Buff ware snake head, likely the end of the handle of a handheld censer. Featuring raised bulging eyes or pupils with curved brackets around the inside; a rounded snout with stabbed nostrils; two incised lines beneath and two incised lines across the face. Flat with hollowed base, the handle is part hollowed and raised upwards diagonally.
