Context (Other)
Accession Register for 1951.757-762 notes 'Returned to La Rochelle, July 1952' and the entries struck through. This note was then later struck through and an updated note reads: 'Received back again and re-entered, August 1952... See letter from Dr Loppé.' The catalogue card records the same information, but with the additional information that this was 'received back from Dr. Loppé.'

Axe head made of iron, consisting of a slightly rounded butt end, circular hole for a handle, slightly curved sides which expand towards a curved cutting edge. The iron is corroded and has been chemically treated.
