Context (Field collection)
The donor of this item cannot yet be identified. It is possible that this is one of the items presented by Dr G.F. Rogers to Louis Clarke at the Museum on 23/11/1935. In the letter from Rogers that accompanied the objects (see MAA Archive, Correspondence for 1935), he states that he purchased several items, including some excavated at Anuradhapura, possibly from W.H. Bidell. A list is provided, only 2 items appear to have been accessioned. Rogers concludes his letter with "Anything you don't want, keep for exchange?" It is possible that this item is one of those sent by Rogers but not accessioned.
