Context (Other owners)
The 'C.E Hornell' who signed the note detailing Hornell's award is Jame's wife, Charlotte Elizabeth (nee Sinel)
(1869 - 1951)

Assumed to have been given to the Museum by James Hornell (d.1949) or his wife Charlotte (d.1951) due to the signed note which accompanied 2019.56.1-2. However, the 1949 Annual report lists objects, books and photographs received from Mrs Charlotte Hornell after her husband's death, but does not list any medals. It may be that these were presented to the library and later passed to the Museum.
