Description (Physical description)
The tsuzumi is a small Japanese drum, shaped like an hourglass. It consists of a wooden body shaped like an hourglass, and it is taut, with two drum heads with cords that can be squeezed or released to increase or decrease the tension of the heads respectively. The body of the drum has been made of lacquered wood and the two ivory sections, meant to represent skins, are secured with red silk thread. Decorated with brown lacquered flowers on the ivory sections.
