Description (Physical description)
Steelyard balance, stored in a wooden case. Ivory yard, marked with graded weights along the length of the piece. Brass weight and balance saucer are attached to the yard via strings of silk thread. The case is hinged on a brass pin, opening out to the side in a sliding fashion and secured shut with a band of woven reed along the handle.
