One or some goldweights from the 1950.688 series were Exhibited in "Currency in Africa", hosted from June 2005-February 2006, captioned Brass gold-weights. Gold-weights such as these were used to measure out gold dust into standardised quantities. Most of those which survive today bear abstract geometric designs, but some feature representations of, for example, cloth, animals, or weapons. Asante, Ghana. 1940.197, 1950.688, 1970.19, 1981.79 B, Z 25585 F & Z 24515 B.
