One of a collection of objects collected by Miss. Carpenter and donated by Mrs. Claydon. According to the catalogue card for 1979.266:
'Miss Carpenter, who originally lived in Wiltshire, worked for the China Inland Mission in Szechuan from 1927-1945; during which time she collected these various objects. On her return to England she moved to Norfolk. On her death these objects were left to Mrs. Claydon (of Shipdham, Norfolk), her next-door-neighbour, through whom the collection was given to this museum.'

Ink, one of two small, rectangular blocks of black ink. Decorated with Chinese characters in gold on one side and an image in raised relief on the reverse. The image depicts a waterfall with a fish, possibly a carp, in the water. Broken into two fragments.
