The inside of the case back is stamped with a 'CC' hallmark. The back of the movement is inscribed 'JC [?] Ambrose LONDON' and '6 53', and also features an adjustable dial marked 'S' [slow] to 'F' [fast].

Description (Physical description)
Pocket watch, including case (1) and verge fusee movement (2). The brass case is plain on the back, with a 'CC' hallmark on the inside,. The case body, crown and penannular suspension loop are decorated with chased and gilded brass (ormolu) in foliate motifs. There is also an integral, partly gilded hinged face plate and separate plain brass bevel. The face plate has the hours 1-12 marked in Roman numerals, with a smaller circular inset for a second set of hands at the bottom. Both sets of hands are now missing. The internal movement is of a front-winding verge fusee type, made from brass and steel and with a slow-fast adjustor at the rear. The back is partly decorated with foliate/floral motifs, and inscribed 'JC [?] Ambrose LONDON' and '6 53'.
