Description (Physical description)
Case (1) - a wooden rectangular case with brass hinges and catch (the latter now damaged). The bottom of the inside is lined with a green felt-like fabric, and additional pieces of wood have been used to make an internal sub-compartment in one corner.

Balance (2-3) - a steel balance arm (2) with a central spike, suspension loop and small, under-hanging plumb. A single circular brass weighing pan is affixed to one end of the arm by three green cords (of which one is now broken), and a small, green and yellow tassel is affixed to the suspension loop. A second brass weighing pan (3) is now loose within the case, though would once have been affixed to the other end of the balance arm.

Weights (4-6) - three coin-shaped weights, two of which are stamped 'CURT WEIGHT HALF SOVEREIGN DW GR 2.13 1/8' and on the reverse 'ROYAL MINT 1821' with a crown and lion symbol in the centre. The third, larger coin is stamped 'CURT WEIGHT HALF SOVEREIGN DW GR 5.2 1/2' and on the reverse 'ROYAL MINT 1821' with a crown and lion symbol in the centre.
