Old typed display label found with the object reads: 'A PAIR OF CHINESE SILVER VASES INLAID WITH ENAMEL, INCLUDING FLORAL DECORATION ROUND THE NECK AND SPOTTED DEER. THESE CAME FROM ONE OF THE 13TH DALAI LAMA'S MEDITATING HOUSES IN NORBHU UNGKA [sic. meant to read Norbulingka]; GIVEN PERSONALLY TO MRS WILLIAMSON'.

Description (Physical description)
Silver vase, one of a pair, with an elaborately carved, openwork wooden stand. Inlaid with enamel, including floral decoration round neck and spotted deer. There is a white crane on the neck of the vase, on the same side as the deer. On the obverse is a panel of text in the centre of the vase.
