Description
An oblong boxwood case for a balance/set of scales, with elaborate brass hinge and locking catch mechanism. The top of the lid is decorated with scrolled and floral motifs. A small insert on one side is now missing. The catch is now permanently locked and the case cannot be opened. The object has also been affected by woodworm, though this is probably historic.
