Description (Physical description)
Lacquered wooden staff, which is split [purposefully] one third of the way down the length of the staff. This allows for a coconut fibre ceremonial fan [1923.64.1] to be slotted into place and secured with a metal rivet, which is partially present on the side of the shaft. The staff is mostly lacquered red, with black tips and yellow detail including scroll work, floral patterns and geometric shapes.
