Description
Key with ovate cusped bow, sub-cylindrical pipe shank, and elongate flattened bit with bulleting down one side and small key wards cut in the bottom edge. The end of the bit/shank is broken and missing, and the shank has been flattened for much of its length.

Cf. London Museum Medieval Catalogue, Plate XXX, no. 24 - a Type III key from Austin Friars, London. However,although the bit and overall construction technique (with shank and bit rolled from sheet metal) is similar, the cusped bow on this key is unlike those in the London Museum Medieval Catalogue, and may be indicative of a later date. As such, the Period field has been filled as '?Medieval; ?Post Medieval'.
