Context (Analysis)
The quillwork is in excellent condition and looks unused, suggesting the shirt [TEMP.03326] was made for sale. The brightness and colour of the orange and pink suggests a late 19th century date, certainly post 1860s and the introduction of aniline dyes. Both shirts [TEMP.03326 and E 1902.86 A] are from the American Plains and the floral design on the neck flap of E 1902.86 A is similar to Sioux- Metis designs. Context (Found together / assemblage)
This shirt was historically stored and documented with E 1902.86 [A-B]. It has similar quillwork decoration to shirt E 1902.86 A but is not mentioned in the Accession Register entry, nor can another matching entry be found. The label is of the same style as those attached to E 1902.86 A-B but written in pencil and it is unclear whether the association with E 1902.86 A-B has informed the information on the label or vice versa. The decision was taken to assign it a temp number, TEMP.03326.
