Description (Physical description)
Accession Register for E 1902.86 [A-B]: 'Deerskin robe, with fringe decorated with two wide, vertical bands, from front to back, of coloured quillwork. Two similar bands start from the shoulder, along the front of either sleeve. Two ermine skins (winter dress) are attached to each shoulder. Two triangular tabs decorated with fringe and quillwork are attached to the collar, front and back. The pair of moccasins bears a large, open pattern in red, blue and yellow quillwork.'

Context (Amendments / updates)
The quillwork is in excellent condition and looks unused, suggesting the shirt [TEMP.03326] was made for sale. The brightness and colour of the orange and pink suggests a late 19th century date, certainly post 1860s and the introduction of aniline dyes. Both shirts [TEMP.03326 and E 1902.86 A] are from the American Plains and the floral design on the neck flap of E 1902.86 A is similar to Sioux- Metis designs. Context (Acquisition Details)
The Register notes 'B. Dr. Haddon *C.J.P Cave M.A. 1903'. 'Professor Bevan through Dr Haddon' has been crossed out. This suggests Cave gave the money to acquire the object while Haddon was the purchaser or, less likely, the vendor. This corresponts with the information given in the Annual Report. The labels attached to E 1902.86 A-B suggest that the monetary donor is Bevan, although these may not have been updated. Bevan has been listed as a query in the Source field.
