Accession No

TEMP.00754.10

Description

Key with ovate bow, fluted collaring preceding cylindrical pipe shank, and an unusual bit, having an inverted 'T'-shape in cross-section, which appears to consist of two pieces which have been welded together, and then in turn welded onto the end of the shank. In addition to its enlarged bottom section, the bit has a key ward in the shape of a '+' pierced through its centre, and additional small key wards cut into both the front and rear edges. The number "[?]032" has been written in a white substance at the top of the bit. The bow is also slightly bent relative to the shank.
