Description (Physical description)
Poster or printed page of the Hindu deity 'Narasimha', the man-lion avatar of Vishnu. He is depicted with the head and claws of a lion and is shown with his tongue sticking out. He is depicted with four arms; the back two holding a chakra wheel, conch shell and the front two arms aretearing apart the abdomen of a man that is laid across his lap. The man holds a sword in one hand, but the foot of Narasimha is preventing him from using it. There are attendant women depicted around Narasimha, who are holding their hands together in prayer or with a metal vessel in their hands. This print is one of twenty-three coloured glossy printed pages of deities from the text by Raja Ravi Varma, "Gods of India".
